Top Ten Ways You Know It's Bein Hazmanim

10) The bigger cholent pots needs to be shlepped up from the basement.

9) Beer occupies the best spots in the fridge.

8) The toilet seat is up.

7) There are hats on every couch/comfortable seat in the house.

6) Dead bugs appear all over the house. Girls may possess the decorating skill required to figure out that dead bugs on the wall should be removed, but apparently guys haven't figured that out.

5) You don't need to take the garbage out. You just need to yell and scream, beg and plead, and tear out your hair in frustration, until you finally convince your little bocher'l to do it.

4) Loud alarm clocks going off all morning, courtesy of a yeshivah bochur who can sleep through an earthquake. (My theory is that they set alarm clocks to wake up the rest of the house who will come to their rooms and turn their mattresses over.)

3) The ketchup bottles empty themselves.

2) There are tools strewn about in random places. And the crowning glory: a drill laying across the floor like it's some piece of artwork.

1) The car is nowhere to be found. Well, not no where. Try looking outside the local open-late takeout store.

Sounds fun....

I grew up with only one older sister and no brothers, so I wouldn't know what it's like.

LMP- Yeah, cept the one each of us marry, huh?

ISH- It's not. And none of those were exaggeration! :-O

Anon- Glad you liked! And I did. :-D

TOL- Yes, they are. And some places that I can't even think of at the moment, they take a guy to think of them... :-D

TKB- Lol, I shouldn't complain. I have a predominantly girl family, the only time we really deal with all this is the summer. And I really shouldn't complain, the guys leave for camp tomorrow. [wipes brow]

LVNSM- Oh, a plane ride would probably be more than I could handle. At least in my house I can escape...on foot. The guys have the car. ;-)

Insp- Pun intended? LOL

G6- Cute? You haven't met my brothers. ;-)

Freyda- Oh, go ahead. Find my troubles amusing... :-p

Gotta tell you, I'm horrified that you can look at such atrocious behavior from boys who are said to be "adults" as in any way acceptable.

SD -
I laughed so hard this morning!
You have to understand that my husband it one of the rare, EVOLVED men, but I have my nephew sleeping over at my house and when I woke up this morning the toilet seat in my bathroom was UP!
I thought of you and chuckled....
(isn't it a pleasant thought to know that toilets make me think of you ;) )

Anon- why am I saying it's horrible? And also, not all of these behaviors are atrocious. Just boyish.

G6- Wow, I have really moved up in the world! :-P Although, personally, I would rather find that a beautiful kallah cake would remind you of me.... ;-)

You didn't say the behaviors were horrible. I did. With the exception of leaving the toilet seat up (which is simply careless), these behaviors aren't boyish. They're boorish, rude and display insensitivity to anyone else but themselves.

And I write this as a boy ho went to Yeshiva, and who never would have acted that way either in the dorms or on vacations.

Anon- eating lots of chulent and ketchup are boorish? And I don't know if you are married, but KSYK, women will often find the toilet seat to be the most offensive of all of these.
